The Best Camping Experiences in Newquay and Cornwall

The Best Camping Experiences in Newquay and Cornwall

There is so much to do in gorgeous coastal Cornwall. Day trips, surf lessons, trips to Newquay or Falmouth and visits to Preppers Shop in Newquay for all your camping supplies. There’s even a Doc Martin tour in Port Isaac! What more could you ask for?

With so many gorgeous spots and so much natural scenery to see, it makes a lot of sense to rough it a little and experience the beauty of Cornwall in the most natural way: camping! Spend your nights under the stars and your days on foot hiking, wild swimming, and exploring.

Camping and wild camping are two very different things. Camping usually refers to traditional camping at a campsite or caravan park. Wild camping, on the other hand, is camping that is not at a designated camping space and can be anywhere in the 'wild'.

There are camping laws in place for the UK, but the general rule of thumb is that it is down to the landowner. If you can get permission from the landowner that is best, but it is generally understood that as long as you respect the land, behave yourself and take all your rubbish with you, it's OK. Unless you see a "private property do not enter" sign, in which case, listen to the sign. You can read more on the camping laws around the UK here.

St Agnes is a stunning little town on the west coastline of Cornwall and the campsite is an absolute gem. It’s incredibly close to the cliffs and offers uninterrupted sea views and panoramic displays of the coastline.

The site itself isn’t packed with tourists, making it ideal for a cosy getaway. There is a working cattle farm nearby where the cows graze and the outhouses have been converted into various facilities, making Beacon Cottage a fantastic, no-thrills camping experience for those who want to get away from daily life but still don’t fancy forgoing a toilet.

South Penquite Farm, Bodmin

For a real ‘back-to-basics’ experience, the farm site has a lot to offer. The farm is certified organic and welcomes campers throughout the summer months.
