Casstrom Roger Harrington woodsman knife
“I have been working on a few projects for the last two years with Casström Knives based in Sweden. The Woodsman is one of my most popular designs and I always have a long list of customers waiting for them. Casström have faithfully reproduced the knife in high carbon steel with a choice of handle material” - Roger Harrington.
The Woodsman is a full-tang knife with a 90mm blade of 4mm high carbon tool steel. This makes the blade extremely durable for heavy use such as log-splitting or 'batoning' without making it heavy or uncomfortable to carry. The grind is Scandinavian which makes it very robust and at the same time easy to carve wood with. It's also easy to sharpen, using a small flat whetstone or sharpener when out in the woods, in short this knife is a really good all-round tool for field use.
Steel Type: Bohler K720
Böhler Tool Steel K720 (O2) is an oil hardened, high carbon tool steel. The properties of this steel are it's toughness and stability, it has a very fine structure making it easy to sharpen to a razor edge. However the low chromium content means it will tarnish if left wet and it must therefore be wiped after use and protected by oil or wax when put away for storage if you want to avoid tarnish building up.
