Prepping doesn't have to be complex. Many of the basic survival items in your kit bag are obvious choices. It's very important not to forget the basics. A simple first aid kit, adequate knife, length of paracord, survival bag and a survival kit are the bare minimum supplies that should fill your Bug Out Bag. Where you go from there is up to you.A good survival kit should be lightweight and compact, and contain the basics to help you find and trim fuel for a fire, and get that fire started. Tarpaulin and shelter would be an ideal addition, and some of the Hex Cookers would make an excellent emergency package.
